FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) BEFORE TRAVELING TO PERU

.ENTRY AND EXIT REQUIREMENTS
 

A valid passport is a prerequisite to enter and leave Peru . In most countries you are not requesting any special permit or visa; however, it is advisable that before you go check if you need it.
Guests traveling on business should check the tax and exit regulations that apply to the visa .

It is not required for citizens of most countries in America and Western Europe . Citizens of Bolivia , Ecuador and Chile do not need passports or visas to get into certain areas of Peru . In these cases, the authorized term of stay is 90 days (extendable by the immigration authorities). Check with the Peruvian diplomatic representation in their country for more information .

There is a tax of $ 25.00, payable at the airport for each person who wishes to leave the country.

.ALTITUDE SICKNESS, HYGIENE AND IMMUNITIES
 

The Andes are characterized by different altitudes, for this reason, some people can feel any negative effect.

In these cases, it is recommended: rest, drink mate de coca, not eating food difficult to digest and if the discomfort persists take Sorochipills, recommended pills for altitude sickness .

Recommendations:

Hepatitis A

.LIMA AIRPORT

.FOREIGN EXCHANGE
 

The U.S. dollar is accepted in most shops, restaurants and service stations at the current exchange rate. The vast majority of the establishments accept known credit cards: Visa, Master Card, Diners and American Express. Using traveler's checks is limited, it is recommended to consult on establishing whether they are accepted.

There are two types of places you may change your money, banks or exchange houses, the last being the one with best prices. In both cases it is very important to check the authenticity of tickets (without broken edges) before receiving them.

If you wish to carry traveler's checks, keep in mind that is not so easy to change, and some banks may require an extra charge for change.

.TRANSPORTATION
 

For extra security we recommend the use of taxis. This service can be requested at the reception desk to pay and the cost varies according to the place where you will be directed.

.INTERNET SERVICE AND INTERNATIONAL CALLS
 

Both in Lima and in provinces, there are a large number of internet cafes and booths where you can communicate cheaply. The cost of Internet service depends on the city that is located and the telephone of the destination you wish to communicate.

.ELECTRICTY
 

Electric current in Peru is 220 volts. Most hotels of four or five stars offer power of 110 volts and 220 volts.

.INFORMATION FOR THE INCA TRAIL
 

It is necessary to book the trip several months in advance because it has a limited number of visitors each day.
